About the Airport:
Athens International airport is located in the east, close to the towns of Spata, Koropi and Loutsa. It is approximately 30 km by road to central Athens. It is Greece’s busiest airport and the main hub for Aegean Airlines as well as many other Greek airlines. It is possible to fly here from the majority of the Greek Islands. Visitors to the city may collect a rental car direct from the airport and begin travelling through this fascinating city.
The airport has two terminals, with plans fro extension in the coming years due to the large amount of visitors. The main terminal building handles all European flights. To cope with demands of increased traffic the satellite terminal now also handles European flights, including the airlines, Volotea and Niki.
Travelling Around Athens
The two main motorways of Greece begin in Athens. Drive in your rental car along the A1/E75 for access to Piraeus, Athens’ municipal area or head towards Greece’s second largest city, Thesssaloniki. Travelling west takes you towards Patras along the A8/E94. You will find driving around Athens’ Metropolitan Area a convenient way of seeing the city due to its accessible motorway network (A6).

Athens is a busy year destination all year but visitor numbers really increase from May to October. Suggested areas to stay in include, Plaka, Monastiraki, Koukaki and Syntagma; the historic sight of the Acropolis is within easy reach from each destination
