Zakynthos Airport is ideally located for access to a range of tourist areas such as Zante, Laguna and Kalamaki. A point of interest for visitors to the airport and the area of Zakynthos itself is that the beaches are home to the endangered loggerhead turtles. These turtles lay their eggs on the beaches at night-time, hence planes not being permitted to land or take off from 12am – 4pm. It is possible to reach the airport with an internal flight from Athens, which last approximately one hour.
